Irme Akhtar, MD, FASN

Dr. Irme Akhtar is a Board-certified nephrologist and internal medicine specialist and has practiced medicine for 10 years.

Dr. Akhtar earned her degree from King Edward Medical College, a prestigious institute for healthcare education in Pakistan. In 1997, she relocated to the United States and completed an internal medicine internship in Chicago, Illinois. She then completed her residency and fellowship at St. Louis University in St. Louis, Missouri.

In 2010, Dr. Akhtar joined Kansas City Kidney Consultants. She is dedicated to providing her patients with compassionate medical care in a comfortable, pleasant environment.

Outside of practicing medicine, Dr. Akhtar holds membership in the American Society of Nephrology, the National Kidney Foundation, and the International Society of Nephrology. She has participated in volunteer efforts within hospitals in Pakistan and health fairs in Kansas City. In addition, Dr. Akhtar has co-authored several publications.

In her free time, Dr. Akhtar loves to travel.
